When Life Comes Full Circle

This past weekend Charleigh had her first soccer game. Charleigh’s social life and list of extra curricular activities far exceeds mine. She’s been in gymnastics since she turned one, dance at school for the last year and swim lessons since May. I had no idea how soccer would go or if she would even enjoy it.

Luckily, we decided to sign up with a few of her friends. Three-year old’s playing soccer is about as adorable and hilarious as you can imagine it would be. Running back and forth, falling over each other, scoring for the other team and a few crying fits and tantrums along the way.

A large amount of my childhood was spent playing soccer. I knew that seeing Charleigh play would make me emotional. She just looked so grown up. Her long blonde hair blowing in the wind made her look less like a toddler and more like a little girl.

Most of our friends and family believe that Charleigh is my mini me. My mom (Gigi) said seeing Charleigh in soccer gear gave her major dejavu. Even more so when Charleigh’s coach handed out the team soccer jersey’s and Charleigh was assigned no other than number 4, my number the entire time I played.

It was one of those moments that you dream of when you think of having kids and raising a family. A moment when life came full circle.

Charleigh was unsure of her first soccer experience. She wanted a snack, said it was hot, didn’t like her cleats being wet but boy did she look adorable. I can’t wait to see what this season will hold for Charleigh and her friends and what kind of memories are to be made.

Until next time….
