It’s likely no surprise that the first room complete (well like 95% complete) after we moved and the first house feature on the blog is Charleigh’s room. I knew exactly what I wanted when it came to her room. Something sweet that would grow with her over time. Charleigh is as girly as they come. She loves dolls, dance, pink and purple, she prefers to only wear dresses and must have a bow and shoes to match.
For her bed I wanted something that had Jenny Lind vibes without the $500+ price tag. This platform bed by Novogratz was perfect and a steal of a deal. The best part is I was able to put it together all by myself.
Her bedding came from Target. I decided to go with a black and white print sheet set, a pink quilt and a few throw pillows we picked up along the way from a few other stores.
My original plan was to wallpaper the wall where her headboard sits but my husband shot that idea down when I told him I would likely have a skim coat applied to remove the texture. Instead I went with a custom name sign from My Custom Timber. I love the simplicity of the sign on our Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray walls. I think it is the perfect statement piece.
The second statement piece and probably my favorite item in her room is the fridge chandelier by Justina Blakeney. The blush tassels are beautiful and give a hint of texture that is needed. One issue I ran into with the chandelier was the tassels blocking the light and making her room dark. I was able to purchase a light bulb extender on Amazon and in 2 days my solution arrived. You simply screw one end into the light bulb socket and screw your light bulb into the other end and voila. Amazon really does have everything!
The item I get the most inquires on in her room is the Landry Low Profile Boookcase by Pillowfort from Target. It is super cute and actually holds a ton of books. It’s the perfect size for her to stand and pick out which books she wants to read each night and easily put them back away.
To go along with the natural wood like finish of the bookcase I decided to add a rattan chair. I searched online and most of the chairs I found were in the same price point. I ended up going with the Avocet Chair by Opalhouse from Target due to the fan back design. It was also easy to put together with just a few screws securing the base.
For her dresser and side table I knew I wanted white furniture with brass hardware. Several of the accent furniture pieces in our home came from Wayfair who once again delivered with this Benbrook Collection by Greyleigh. I shopped similar styles at Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn Kids and West Elm and these were easily 1/3 of the cost. The quality of them is amazing. They are heavily duty and we will be able to get use out of them for years to come.
The wall art in her room I collected over several months. I saw a few ads on social media for Smallwoods and I knew once I saw the AS ONLY YOU CAN sign I had to have it. It is so sweet and perfect for any little girls room. I snagged some succulent art at HomeGoods, cactus art from At Home and used a piece we had in her old room from Hobby Lobby to complete the look.
Her room is right off of the playroom where the majority of her toys are stored however I wanted something to store any toys and animals she wanted to keep in her room or to use for a quick clean up. I ended up going with the Loring 4 Cube Bookcase due to the vintage oak finish and paired it with a couple Better Homes and Gardens Wire Baskets from Walmart. You are able to use chalk on the baskets to label them if you like but I decided to just leave them blank.
The final touches are a Pink Moroccan Trellis rug from my favorite rug store Rugs USA and West Elm blush curtains that I was able to grab on clearance.
I am extremely happy with the way her room turned out and I think it is a perfect fit for our little princess.
Until next time….
